Effley N. Brooks, III

Effley N. Brooks, III, MBA, is the director of the Denver Community Leadership Forum in the graduate school of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver. He has worked on cultural competence and tolerance for government agencies, universities, schools and corporations, including the National Hockey League (NHL), the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Spring Institute for Intercultural Learning. He is certified in emotional intelligence evaluation through Yale University and is an active participant in the PeaceJam conferences in the U.S. and South Africa.

Claire Damken Brown

Claire Damken Brown, Ph.D., speaks, consults and writes about diversity and equal employment opportunity (EEO) strategies, cultural competency, gender communication and sexual harassment. A pioneer in the field of diversity, Dr. Brown is an industry expert with 16 years experience directing diversity, equal opportunity, and affirmative action organizations in Fortune 500 companies, including AT&T and Lucent Technologies. She has presented at companies, universities and conferences across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico. She is the author of the book Conflict and Diversity and several journal and newsletter articles.

Joe A. Gonzales

Joe A. Gonzales, is a mediator, trainer and facilitator for strategic planning processes, especially for communities and organizations undergoing reorganization and change. He works as a senior consultant with numerous groups, including the Enterprise Foundation and the Center for Public/Private Sector Cooperation at the University of Colorado Denver. His expertise includes training in group alignment, mediation for organizations and communities, consensus-building strategies and conflict intervention.

Bruce Koranski

Bruce Koranski served as director of planning and development at the Center for Teaching International Relations at the University of Denver for 13 years, where he trained teachers in cross-cultural issues and the impact of international trends on U.S. society. He was the editor of Consumer in the Global Marketplace and has worked as a consultant with Chevron, Coors, Disney, the U.S. Forest Service, Lockheed Martin, Up With People, Storage Technology, Hewlett Packard, J.D. Edwards, The Rocky Mountain News, St. Gobain, Johns Manville, the City and County of Denver and the National Western Stock Show.

Denise Materre

Denise Materre, M.Ed., has formulated organizational strategies and interventions as an executive coach, consultant, facilitator and workshop presenter. She deals primarily in the areas of leadership development, strategic planning, interpersonal skill development, conflict resolution and inclusiveness initiatives. She has expertise in business, academic, health care and nonprofit settings and has coached hundreds of organizational leaders across the U.S. and Canada.

L. Bonita Patterson

L. Bonita Patterson works with a broad array of corporate, government and non-profit clients in the areas of communications, emotional intelligence, leadership and team development, diversity and strategic planning. Her experience includes extensive work in management and leadership with IBM and the U.S. Department of Energy. She is the author of Communication Under Fire: How To Talk When Things Heat Up and Emotional Intelligence in Action: Training and Coaching Activities for Leaders and Managers.

Bruce Pfrommer

Bruce Pfrommer works primarily with nonprofits and foundations to manage transitions and achieve goals in the areas of human rights, inclusiveness (race/ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation) and healthy communities (environment, health and community development). For over 15 years, Bruce worked within government, for-profit and non-profit sectors, with a focus on team development, conflict resolution and individual coaching on issues of sexual harassment and equal employment opportunity.

Jose Reyes

Jose Reyes, Ph.D., holds a doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati with emphasis on cultural anthropology, educational foundations, counseling and qualitative research. He is the recipient of a New York University research fellowship for the study mental health issues of Latino migrants and has consultation experience in the correctional system, child welfare and substance abuse. He holds a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling and has published in the area of culturally sensitive mental health services.
